ROBERT H. RAMSEY, JR.

WHEREAS, Robert H. Ramsey, Jr., a successful and respected citizen of Goliad,
was first elected as a Director of the San Antonio River Authority by the voters of Goliad
County for a six-year term beginning in February 1983; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Goliad County subsequently elected Robert H.
Ramsey, Jr., to represent them for two successive six-year terms such that his continuous
service as a Director of the San Antonio Ri ver Authority spanned a period of seventeen
years; and
WHEREAS, Robert H. Ramsey, Jr., was honored by his peers when selected to
serve for a two-year period as Treasurer of the Board of Directors beginning in 1991; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure he served the citizens of the district as a
representative to the Golden Crescent Council of Governments and as a member of the
Regional Water Quality Program Committee; and
WHEREAS, Robert H. Ramsey, Jr., served on agency assignments as a Trustee of
the San Antonio River Authority Employees' Retirement Plan and Trust and as Chairman
of the Audit Committee for two years; and
WHEREAS, he served faithfully and with distinction for a period of seventeen
years during which the San Antonio River Authority achieved award-winning excellence
in the operation of its own wastewater treatment systems and influenced the dramatic
improvement in the quality of water in the San Antonio River, made major contributions
to urban safety by sponsoring flood control channelization and tunnels on San Pedro
Creek and the San Antonio River, completed planning studies that established a vision for
enhancements to the San Antonio River from Espada Dam to Josephine Street; and
WHEREAS, he was instrumental in development of the San Antonio River
Authority's leadership role in water resource planning through the Trans-Texas Water
Program and the Senate Bill 1 regional water planning effort; and
WHEREAS, we are indebted to him for his wise counsel, dedicated interest and
leadership in behalf of the citizens of Goliad County and the San Antonio River
Authority.
