A petition demanding the recall of the Student Representative Assembly was the focal point lor the largest attendance at an SRA meeting this semester Approx¬ imately 65 students attended the Wednesday, March 24 meeting to discuss the recall and related Issues
The recall petition, circulated after Spring Break, was prompted by the tabling of a motion made at the March 10 SRA meeting to provkle funds for ttie Forensic Team's travel to a regional meet In Arkansas.
The SRA refused lo appropriate the travel money because the Forensic Team lalled to lultlll the unwritten requirements lor funds The Forensic Team, not a registered student organization, was ineligible for funds from the SRA In addition, Ihe activity was oil campus prohibiting student at¬ tendance

"Why hasn t the SRA gone to the sludenls and asked what Ihe sludenls would like done with that money," asked Gary Kitchens, Forensic Team member "It's got lo the point where this organiza¬ tion functions as an elite group to a large degree
A heated discussion lollowed during which SRA members ac¬ cused the crowd of attending the meeting only lo promote their special interests and "upsetting the balance ""
In an ellpri lo field questions about Ihe budget, J D Metcalfe, SRA President, referred to the February 29 Issue of Ttie Paiaano which outlined the SRA s yearly expenditures
